In December, an ex boyfriend of mine died due to an accident out in Australia. We were very close. He always told ME that i was the one and that the only reason he left for Australia was because he didn’t know what else to do. I am incredibly busy, I study full time as a veterinary nurse and work in placement full time for it. I have a little boy, my own house, car etc. I have responsibilities. My ex was very outgoing and adventurous, he lived 3hrs from me, but would drive just to see me for half an hour if we had the opportunity. I felt under a lot of pressure and suggested that we didn’t get til serious until I was qualified, so I could focus on college work. He reluctantly agreed and went to Australia to keep busy. Our relationship was left very open. We spoke, we argued and then we made up again. We both knew what we wanted but the timing wasn’t right. We both didn’t see the harm in waiting. Then, 4am one morning I received the dreaded phone call of his passing. I have been heartbroken ever since and feel partly to blame for what happened. Its affected my college work an awful lot and I am so worried about messing things up. I would just like to know if things will ever get any easier? Will life be okay one day? I miss him so much and the loss has left me numb. I feel like the rest of my life is a lie, which is so hard to accept. Can anyone help me please? :(

So sorry to read what you have shared. Truly heartbreaking and you wrote with such heart yourself over events that you had NO control over. It is natural to want to lay blame for tragedys and usually we direct it at self. But deep down you will feel and know that is not so.

We cant understand sometimes why things happen and I would not insult you by saying “I understand” because your pain and grief is unique to you. But you life continues and although you will always hold a place in your heart for him you will move forward. He would want this wouldn’t he. You are numb still but with the passage of time the pain will ease and one day you will love again.
